My December Goals With Bailey and Blogging

I often see bloggers set monthly goals for themselves, so even though I’m like a day late I thought, why not give it a shot.

Bailey Goals

More frequent walks: Bailey and I have been taking solo afternoon walks together this past week because she has a lot of pent up energy that needs to be released in a healthy way – and walking is good for both dog and dog mom.

Bake healthy treats for both Bailey and Nugget: Nugget is our senior Pekingese, and he has been having a difficult time lately doing his number two business. He’s 11 and he has chronic Lyme disease. Unfortunately, constipation is a problem that goes along with with Lyme disease in dogs. So, I’m thinking of bringing in some fresh whole foods into both of their diets, especially in the form of treats. Not only would baking homemade treats be healthier for both of my pups, it would be more economical in the long run. And these days, who isn’t about saving some money? Am I right?

Decorate for Christmas: This one may seem strange as Bailey is almost 3 year old and this will be her third Christmas with us, but she has yet to experience our house decorated for the holidays. Neither has Nugget for that matter, and he’s been here one holiday season longer than Bailey. The last time I can remember decorating for Christmas was back in 2017. I stopped after that year because my father-in-law passed away five months later and, well, it just didn’t feel right to celebrate anything. Sadly, my mother-in-law passed away this past year and while we’re still very sad over it, we have decided that this will be the year that we at least put up the Christmas tree and bring some holiday joy back into our home. It will be interesting to see how two dogs, who have never dealt with an indoor tree before, deal with our 7-foot artificial tree. Actually, I don’t know if Nugget has ever dealt with an indoor tree. I adopted him from a Pekingese rescue during the pandemic a few months after I lost my almost 10-year-old Pekingese, Ming, to cancer. I’m Nugget’s third Dog mama, and his last. His first owner (from puppyhood) passed away when he was only 5-years old. His second owner only had him for two years, and it was my understanding that she wasn’t very nice to him. In fact, the lady who I rescued him from said she would never had let her adopt him.

Nugget, enjoying life as a very spoiled and pampered senior Pekingese pupper

I had wanted to take Bailey out to some places that allowed dogs, like Home Depot and Lowes. We’re doing some DIY work on our home, so we frequent these places quite a bit on the weekends and I thought it would be fun to bring Bailey along and maybe help desensitize her and bring her out of her timid shell a bit. But with this mystery canine respiratory illness going around now, I’m not sure that’s even worth the risk.

Blogging Goals

To say I’m still trying to find my footing in this blogosphere would be an understatement. I’m still playing around with the voice of the blog – and the theme.

Niche down: Dog momager tips and tricks. You know, social media and blogging help, as I learn all about these things myself. Helping your dog reach international pupfluencer/pupstar status. Cooking and baking for dogs, with the goal of helping dog moms create longer and healthier lives for their canine fur babies. DIY dog mom fun. Homemade enrichment toys. Converting space in your home into a dog friendly area, or your dog’s own room.

Complete setting up the blog basics: Write the about page. Set up a freebie to join our email list. Define and lay out our privacy polices.

Join some some influencer platforms: How else does one attain international pupfluencer stardom if one has not joined one or more influencer platforms?

Have fun: I think a lot of newbie bloggers forget this part of blogging. Just have fun. This is the one HUGE reason I decided to blog with my dog, because I have so much fun with her. And working with her is fun. And if you have fun while you’re working, are you really working at all?

Do you have any goals for this month? What are they? Let me know in the comments.

  1. Hi Bailey and Mom! I Monkey am a Sheltie, too, and when my mom noticed you’d subscribed to our blog, well, I just had to visit here to say Thanks, didn’t I?!! Do you know we’re about the same age, Bailey? I turn three this month, and Mama says I’m becoming a better dog every day. Huh, wonder what she means by that? Probably that I’ve stopped peeing in her house and (mostly) stopped shredding papers she considers important! Stop by our place any time, and we’ll return the favor.
