Hi! My name is Bailey.

I’m a 3-year-old Shetland Sheepdog, born on February 6, 2021, in Leola, PA. That’s right. Right in the heart of Amish country. I now live in the NJ suburbs, and I have since I was 10 weeks old. That’s how old I was when my mama made the almost 3-hour drive to come pick me up.

Adjusting to life in the suburbs from a life on a farm was an adjustment, but I did it, 100% would recommend it and would never go back. I love my family, especially my mama. I am definitely a mama’s girl.

Mama says I’m sassy, and can be somewhat of a trouble making diva. I have no idea what she’s talking about, but if the next door neighbor’s dog doesn’t agree with me… there will be heck to pay.

Oh, yeah, there’s this other dog that lives with us. His name is Nugget, and he’s an 11-year-old Pekingese. We tolerate each other all on the account of Nugget tried to unalive me the day mama brought me home from the farm. He lunged at me and bit me. Mama separated us, and protected me until I could take care of myself.

But he’s used to me now, so we’re cool with each other.

In addition to my mama, I have a daddy person, a human sister and two human brothers. I love all of my humans very, very much, but like I said before, my mama is my favorite.

My hobbies include barking at the neighborhood dogs that walk past my house, herding my humans into place when they veer off course, barking at nothing at 3:00AM, starting arguments with other dogs in the neighborhood on my morning walks with mama, and stealing food right out of my youngest human’s hands when he least expects it (Nugget taught me that trick).

My mama went to a specialized high school way, way back in the day, where she majored in animal science. She wanted to be a veterinarian but couldn’t stand the sight of blood.

Finding my new family back in April 2021 was the best thing that ever happened to me…

So after mama got married to the daddy person, had my three human siblings, she missed having little babies to take care of so she got a puppy of her own. When that puppy got older, she started dog sitting so she could play with other people’s dogs and her very first client was a Sheltie. Now mama and daddy person had a Sheltie WAY before they ever had any human kids, and puppy sitting this Sheltie reignited my mama’s love of my breed.

It took a few years until mama could find just the right puppy, but she says I was worth the wait. She was worth the wait too.
